AIGO MID E500, New 5-inch multi-OS Tablet with Android

The Chinese manufacturer Aigo has officially launched its MID E500. So here is the famous 5-inch version of his brother the Aigopad N700 unveiled earlier.

This new MID has a 5-inch resistive touch screen, with a good resolution of 800×480 pixels. The E500 is running Android OS 1.5 and can access of the thousands Android Market applications.

Thanks to its dual processor (ARM at 600 MHz and DSP at 550 MHz), the manufacturer claims that you can set up Windows2000/XP/ Windows 7 / Vista, and versions of Mac OS 10.4 or higher! The E500 has 128mo of RAM, a WiFi module and is available in two versions, either 8gb or 16GB of flash memory. You can of course increase the storage space with a micro TF card (32GB max).

It can read MS Office files and PDF and is capable of playing HD video up to 720p. Lot of video formats are supported like RM, RMVB, AVI, MOV, FLV, MKV and also photo format JPG, BMP, GIF.. Its 3200mAh battery allows a range of 10 hours of MP3 playback and 6 hours watching video or surfing on Internet.

The Aigo Mid E500 weighs only 228g and measures 150.4×90.9×12.5 mm. It will be available on 15th May and priced at $205.

This new model is in competition with the SmartQ V5 and V7. However, it can not really compete because they are now available with Android 2.1 and they can play 1080p and have bluetooth. Besides their price has just dropped. Indeed, the SmartQ v5 is priced at $140 and $190 for the V7.
