Le projet Chinois TD-LTE a 70% de chance de devenir la norme internationale du futur réseau 4G

Zhao Houlin the vice-secretary of the ITU (International Telecommunication Union) recently reported that Chinese technology TD-LTE has 70% chance of being selected to become the international standard of the future 4G network. The final selection will be published in October of this year.

Zhao Houlin expressed, when the TD-LTE has been tested on the 3G network in China, the Chinese 3G market was in its infancy, and had not yet experience in this field. Despite this lack of experience, the initiative taken by China has paid off as it seems to be on the verge of being selected to become the future 4G standard.

He also said that all parties want at all costs to promote their own 4G technology, but from the standpoint of the ITU only the best technology will be selected. He spoke on WiMax the main competitor of the TD-LTE, which is also competing to become the future 4G standard, and said he was unlikely to be accepted.

The telecommunication standards promoted by China have always been welcomed with difficulty at international scale, however, China seems to be more considerate and TD-LTE may become the 4G standard, it would be a kind of revenge for China. Also manufacturers believe that Chinese technology TD-LTE is about to beat WiMax to become the global standard for 4G communication.

For your information, the future TD-LTE 4G network will propose a bandwidth of 100Mb/s against 70MB/s for WiMax, besides its coverage is wider, up to 100km in a rural area. Large industrial groups support this technology, including France Telecom, Deutsche Telekom, AT&T U.S., Japan’s NTT, KT of South Korea, China Mobile, Ericsson, Nokia, Huawei and ZTE Corporation.
